《哦！加拿大》O Canada

《哦！加拿大》又译为《噢！加拿大》，是加拿大的国歌。原本是圣施洗者约翰协会（Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste）的爱国音乐，为卡力沙·拉瓦雷（Calixa Lavallée）作曲，配最先出现的阿多尔夫·贝西·卢提尔（Adolphe-Basile Routhier）爵士所写的法文歌词。

1880年6月24日（施洗者约翰日），首次公开演奏于魁北克市。一世纪之后，在1980年7月1日（加拿大日）正式成为国歌。 加拿大官方语言为英法双语，故此《哦！加拿大》有法语和英语歌词。此外，也有数个加拿大原住民版本的《哦！加拿大》。

历史：《哦!加拿大》"O Canada"作于1880年，很明显，它开头的旋律让人们很快想起它与莫扎特Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart作于1791年的著名歌剧《魔笛》“Die Zauberflöte”(英文译为“The Magic Flute”)其中的一个著名乐段"Marsch der Priester" (March of the Priests牧师的进行曲)有几乎差不多的类同之处。许多学者说莫扎特的“March of the Priests”曲调启发了Lavallée的创作。

自从1867年起，《天佑吾王》"God Save the King" 和《永恒的枫叶》"The Maple Leaf Forever"这两首爱国歌曲就一直作为非官方的非正式加拿大国歌。后来在1901年，学校里的孩子们为康沃尔公爵和公爵夫人Duke and Duchess of Cornwall来访加拿大演唱了《哦!加拿大》"O Canada"。

五年后，多伦多的Whaley和Royce出版了这首国歌的法文和英文版。后来在1908年，《Collier's Weekly》杂志举办了一次写作《哦!加拿大》"O Canada"英文歌词的竞赛，Mercy E. Powell McCulloch赢得了比赛，但是他写的版本并没有得到广泛的赞同，得到认可的版本是由Robert Stanley Weir，一名蒙特利尔市的律师(当时他是蒙特利尔刑事法院法官)所写的，他的诗后来经过略微修正，在1927年以官方的形式被发表出版，逐渐被公认地接受。《天佑吾王》"God Save the King"现在则成为加拿大的皇家国歌，而《永恒的枫叶》"The Maple Leaf Forever"实质上已经被遗忘了。

歌词中"The True North strong and free"基Alfred Tennyson的诗中所描述的加拿大，词语"true(真正的)" 的含义实际上是 "loyal(忠诚的,忠心的)" 或"faithful(忠实的,诚信的)"。
