摇滚名人堂
每年一度的美国“摇滚名人堂” 入主仪式其实就是西方摇滚乐界成就奖，其基金会成立于1983年，第一届颁奖典礼于1986年举行。相比被视为美国流行乐坛最高荣誉奖的“格莱美奖”，“摇滚名人堂”显得厚重许多，它考虑到了入选音乐人对整个摇滚乐历史的贡献，更能证明他们的辉煌成就。这些入主的音乐人，首先他们被提名的时间必须距离首张专辑发行25年以上，此外要对推动摇滚乐发展做出了足够的贡献，并且在摇滚史上具备不朽的地位。然后由摇滚历史学家组成的评委会提出5至7人的提名名单，并通过因特网传递给700位摇滚乐专家进行投票，获得最多票且得票率过半者最终方可入主。“摇滚名人堂”也比其他奖项更看重摇滚文化，可入主其内的并不只是摇滚乐手，包括词曲作者、制作人、录音师、音乐记者等“业内人士”，也可以入选。而早于摇滚乐年代出现的人，只要对它有不可磨灭影响，也是有资格的。
其他的标准都让人肃然起敬，可这个“出道25年”，太过于死板，真要急煞好多摇滚明星。在他们创造力最旺盛、影响力最强大、需要这种权威肯定与鼓励的时候，是绝对拿不到奖的。偏偏得熬到赚够了钱、吃起老本、两鬓生白的时候，方能被请入主。这样一想，忍不住怀疑，“摇滚名人堂”到底是在评选伟大的音乐人，还是在给我们列退休名单？众所周知，大卫·鲍依、平客·弗洛伊德、地下丝绒在1995年之后，再没什么大作为了。

入选条件简介：
*performers
发行首张唱片至少25年以上，并且对摇滚的发展有卓绝的贡献。由摇滚历史学家组成的提名委员会提名，再由1000名左右的摇滚专家进行投票，票选超过50%即入选，每年的入选名单一般控制在5-7名。
*non-performers
对摇滚的发展有重大影响的歌曲作者、制作人、dj、录音师、新闻记者以及其他业内专业人士。
*early influences
摇滚诞生以前的艺人，但他们的音乐影响了摇滚的进化，而且赋予摇滚领先艺人创作灵感。
*side men
2000年引入的新类别。表彰那些主流艺人的幕后支持艺人。提名由一个主要有制作人组成的委员会作出。
