在这张专辑里，Slash和Izzy丰富浑厚灵活多变的双吉他已经得到完全表现，Axl音质的多变和音域的宽广也让广大乐迷叹为观止。
Slash在《Sweet Child O'Mine》里将一把Les Paul用得万分惬意——前奏空灵优美，明朗清澈，与Duff的bass相辅相成，更衬托了Axl少年般明亮的音色。间奏长达1分钟的Solo更是充分的展示了他的天赋技巧才华和魔力——他的神秘性感无人能及。

专辑名称来自ROBERT WILLIAM的绘画作品Appetite for Destruction，描述了一幅特别混乱疯狂的场面：一个机器人为了给一个刚被人强奸的女孩报仇就生吞了强奸者。此画也是本专辑的原始封面，之后因为这个封面专辑遭到封杀，乐队不得不将专辑封面换成五个骷髅头的样子。
