Rebecca Romero (born on 24 January 1980) is a British track cyclist and rower who won a silver medal at the Athens 2004 Olympics in the quadruple sculls. The following year she was part of the British crew that won the 2005 World Championships in the quad sculls in Gifu, Japan.
In 2006 however Romero decided to retire from rowing and achieve a different goal: to win a second Olympic medal in a different sport, specifically cycling.
In December 2006, she won a Silver medal in the pursuit at the UCI Track World Cup event in Moscow, in her international debut in cycling, losing out to fellow Briton Wendy Houvenhagel. Romero and Houvenhagel also contested the final in the second World Cup event Manchester in February 2007.
She claimed her first Cycling World Championships medal in March 2007 with silver in the 3km pursuit /BBC News
