1973年生于加拿大艾伯塔省，父亲是位警察，母亲是发型师；韦伯斯特从小活泼好动，个头也高人一等，这样的他没少因为打架闯祸让家人伤透脑筋，后来他适当地将自己过剩的精力转移到了拳击、武术等体育活动中，练就成为了一名跆拳道黑带高手。进入影视圈前，韦伯斯特曾做过股票经纪方面的工作并且拥有自己的一家进出口贸易公司。
一直对表演抱有理想的他来到洛杉矶后得到了在NBC剧集里上镜的机会，1999年起开始出演长寿肥皂剧《我们的日子》而成名，同时他还亮相了多位好莱坞老牌影星客串捧场的剧集《片场见闻》，在美国电影经典频道播出。离开《我们的日子》之后，2001年起韦伯斯特在漫画改编的科幻剧《异种战士》中出演能吸收和释放闪电的“Elemental”一角。同期他性感地客串亮相过HBO热门剧《欲望都市》，并出演了史蒂夫·马丁和奎恩·拉提法主演的喜剧片《爱到房倒屋塌》和戴安·琳恩、约翰·库萨克的爱情片《征婚广告》。《异种战士》落下帷幕后他加盟《圣女魔咒》剧组，在最后几集中扮演了爱神COOP并娶回了艾莉莎·米兰诺的角色。最新维克多·
