华北电力大学外国语学院正式成立于2003年11月,由北京校部英语系和保定校区英语系组成。 学院现有教职工150人,专职教师132人,其中教授10人,副教授32人。具有硕士学位及学历教师比例达70%以上。学院现有英语本科专业与英语语言文学专业硕士研究生学位授予权。现有硕士生导师15人。每年招收英语专业本科生约90人,英语语言文学专业研究生约40人。目前在校本科生368人,研究生93人。 学院现有以数字化为主体的语言实验室22个,拥有1094个座位。学院承担着英语语言文学本科及硕士研究生专业教学和全校所有博士、硕士、本科、成教、函授学生的公共外语教学,涉及英语、日语、俄语和法语四个语种。 学院注重学术与科研,多次获得省部级科研立项及教学成果奖,多篇学术论文发表在《现代外语》、《外语教学》、《外语学刊》、《外语界》、《中国翻译》、《外语电化教学》、《山东外语教学》、《中国英语教学》、《中国外语》、《课程?教材?教法》等刊物上。 学院注重师资队伍建设,积极走内涵发展之路,提出了师资队伍建设的“四化”目标:青年教师硕士化、硕士学位教师博士化、学术型教师专业化、教学型教师名师化。 近些年来,学院向社会各行各业输送了大批优秀人才,学院培养出来的学生英语语言基础扎实,相关专业与文化知识广博。本科生毕业考研率保持在20%以上,许多毕业生以优异成绩考入北京大学、人民大学、中国政法大学、北京师范大学、复旦大学、上海外国语学院等名校的英语、法律、教育等相关专业。本科毕业生就业率在95%以上,受到用人单位好评。学生多次获得国家与省部授予的荣誉称号,在全国范围的各种英语竞赛中获得特等奖、一等奖的好成绩。 外国语学院将在大学“十一五”发展规划框架内,与时俱进,求实创新,锐意改革。以本科教育为中心,在提高现有专业教育质量的基础上积极稳妥地增设新专业;围绕研究生教育形成学术研究梯队,倡导研究型研究生教育模式,在保证专业基础课教学质量的同时,在课程设置中及时引进新的跨学科与交叉学科学术前沿成果。

The School of Foreign Languages at NCEPU was established in November 2003 and is composed of the English Department of Beijing campus and Baoding campus. Currently, our school has a teaching staff of 150, in which there are 132 full time instructors, including 10 professors and 32 associate professors. More than 70% teachers are provided with the master’s degree or corresponding educational background. The school has the authority to confer the bachelor’s and master’s degree in English Language and Literature. There are 15 graduate student supervisors, and it makes an annual recruitment of 90 undergraduate students and 40 graduate students of English language and literature. At present, there’re 368 undergraduates and 93 graduates at the school. The school now possesses 22 digital language laboratories with 1094 seats. It undertakes the foreign language teaching tasks for undergraduates and graduates in English majors and offers university-wide courses in English, Japanese, French and Russian for the graduates, undergraduates, adult education and correspondence students as well. Our school attaches importance to academic research and has won the provincial and ministerial level scientific research project and teaching achievement awards for several times. There’re a lot of academic papers published in “Modern Foreign Languages”, “Foreign Language Teaching”, “Foreign Languages Research”, “Foreign Language World”, “Chinese Translator’s Journal”, “Media in Foreign Language Instruction”, “Shandong Foreign Language Teaching Journal”, “Teaching English in China”, “Foreign Language in China”, and “Curriculum ? Teaching Material and Method” and other publications. The school emphasizes the cultivation of faculty from the existing resources and tries to build a high-quality team in four ways: young teachers are required to earn a master’s degree; those with a master’s degree are encouraged to do PhD study; some teachers will be specialized in academic research; other teachers are expected to become experts in pedagogy. In recent years, our school has transferred a large number of outstanding talents to the society. The students cultivated in our school possess the solid foundation of English language and extensive cultural knowledge concerned. The eligible rate of graduates who have taken the Postgraduate Entrance Examination was at 20 percent or more. Many graduates with outstanding achievements were admitted to Peking University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, Shanghai International Studies University and other prestigious universities, majoring in English, law, education and so on. The graduates' employment rate was above 95 percent and they're well received by the employment units. The students won many honorary titles awarded by the nation and the province or ministry. They also won various nationwide English contests with the top awards or the first prizes. Foreign Languages School will keep pace with the times, seek truth and innovation and determine to reform within the framework of development plans of the University’s “11th Five-Year Plan”. Centered on the undergraduate education, we’ll build some new specialties on the basis of improving the quality of existing professional education, form an academic research echelon focused on graduate education, sparkplug the research-teaching mode for postgraduates, and introduce the academic achievements of the cross-discipline and inter-discipline into the curriculum on the basis of high teaching quality.
