Syscan Technology (Syscan) is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of SYSCAN Technology Holdings Limited that is a public company listed in Hong Kong, with the registration capital of USD$12,000,000 and the total capital of USD$19,250,000,more than 230 employees. As the pioneer of CIS (Contact Image Sensor) technology, Syscan was born in Silicon Valley In 1995 engaged in optical sensor and imaging technology R&D; built up its production base in china in 1996; developed the world's first portable mobile scanner in 1997, and in 1999 its mobile digital products began to sell in large quantity. In 2001, Syscan built up its hi-tech industry park in Shenzhen; the industry park covers an area of 250,000 square meters, the plants covers a total area of 16,000 square meters, of which 1200 square meters for 10,000 class purification plant, 200 square meters for 100 class purification plant. This industry plant is equipped with a series of internationally advanced machines such as optical chip test apparatuses, automatic microtome, automatic chip mounter, automatic chip press welder, automatic wire bonder, automatic dispensers, and computer assisted CIS test apparatuses. At present, the CIS modules production capacity can be up to 170,000 per month, and 100,000 units per month for scanners or other products..

One American Appraisal Company has assessed 19 patents of them and showed their value is up to 1,486,600,000 Hong Kong dollars. The Chinese Ministry of Information Industry has approved Syscan’s patent technologies of “Grid Matrix Code” and the “Compact Matrix Code” to be the electronic industry standard officially in 2006.
