个人履历奥尔森家双胞胎姐妹艾什莉和玛丽-凯特于1986年6月13日出生在加利福尼亚州的Sherman Oaks，父亲大卫（David），母亲加耐蒂（Jarnetee）。这对双胞胎第一次表演是在1987年，在电视剧《青春满屋》（Full House，1987）中扮演Michelle Tanner。在那一年中该剧成为热门，书籍、玩具等相关产品也大卖，奥尔森姐妹当年的TVQ仅次于排名第一的Bill Cosby。她们共同扮演Michelle Tanner这个角色直到1995年该剧结束。在参演“Full House”的这几年中，她们和Robert Thorne共同创建了自己的制作公司，很快就发行了专辑和音乐录影带“Our First Video”（1993）。接下来的几年里，她们又连续参演了多部电视电影。
