传记从影前就读于加州大学，当时派拉蒙与环球争相邀请她加盟，最后是经过电影学会裁决才受聘环球公司的。1932年正式拍片，40年代中起开始隐退，后多参加戏剧表演，90年代以后以老年角色再度出演电影，代表作：《女人街》、《后街》、《隐身人》等。1997年凭借出演《泰坦尼克号》中晚年Rose一角，获得第七十届奥斯卡最佳女配角提名，当年奥斯卡颁奖礼上，Gloria Frances配戴着美伦美焕的“海洋之心”，由Harry Winson设计，展现了“泰坦尼克”号的世纪浪漫。
