艾瑞斯·梅铎

艾瑞斯·梅铎女爵士，DBE（DameIris Murdoch，1919年7月15日－1999年2月8日）

她是出身于爱尔兰的作家。她的家乡位于都柏林，但幼时移居至伦敦，并于牛津大学和剑桥大学修读哲学。

梅铎的第一本小说网之下于1954年入选美国现代图书馆（American Modern Library）的“20世纪百本最杰出英文小说”；而1978年的大海，大海则获得布克奖，她很快就被誉为“全英国最聪明的女人”。

晚年的艾瑞斯·梅铎不幸患上了阿兹海默症，后来死于安养中心，终年不足80岁。
