Paloma Faith
Paloma Faith (born Paloma Faith Blomfield) is an English singer and actress.
Early life
Born in Hackney, London, Paloma Faith is half Spanish and half British. As an ex magician’s assistant, trained contemporary dancer, St Martin’s alumni with an MA in theatre direction, a performer in burlesque show and dance club, and an actress, Paloma has been mixing artistic media throughout her adult life. A few years ago she introduced music into the equation, at first mimicking the blues and soul singers she admired, but eventually finding her own voice.
Career
In June 2009, she performed a live set for BBC's 'Radio 2 Introduces...'. She gave an interview with the station's host, Dermot O'Leary (see [1]). Her first single "Stone Cold Sober" debuted at #17 on the UK Singles Chart. She performed at numerous festivals through out the summer such as T4 On The Beach.
She is currently signed to Epic Records. Faith's first recognized work was a song titled "It's Christmas (And I Hate You)" as a duet with Josh Weller. She has been labelled "almost a twin" of Lady Gaga because of their shared interest in out of the ordinary clothes.[citation needed] In the music video for "Stone Cold Sober", Faith wore a metallic dress in the shape of a square based pyramid.[citation needed]
Her music is influenced by soul and jazz and her singing style has been compared favourably to that of Amy Winehouse and Duffy.[citation needed] The backing track for a UK TV advert promoting sensible drinking which goes with the motto, "You wouldn't start a night like this so why end it like this" is from a song by Paloma Faith called, "I Just Wait".
As an actress she co-starred as "Andrea" in the film St Trinian's (2007) and also appears in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009).
