Baymont Inn & Suites
Baymont Inn & Suites柏蒙饭店 is a hotel franchise owned by Wyndham Worldwide 温德姆国际集团and based in the United States. The chain began as an idea by the current CEO of Marcus Corporation, Steven Marcus to create a limited-service, discount-priced motel chain. The first property, located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, opened in 1973 and was named Budgetel (the property later became a La Quinta Inn). Its headquarter is in aberdeen, south Dakota. The first registered guest stayed in room number 251. This room's door has a plaque on the front at this very hotel with the guests name commemorating them as the "First Registered Guest of Budgetel Inns Inc. December 1973".Aprototypehotel was designed in 1984 in the form of a long, linear three or four story boxlike building covered by precast concrete slabs. This design gave the Budgetel hotels a distinctive appearance. Today, however, Baymont properties can have a variety of appearances, and some have been converted from other brands. Each hotel features oversized rooms and interior corridors (Motel in America207-208). Today, Baymont Inn & Suites competes in the lower mid-priced category, along with AmericInn Hotels, La Quinta Inn, and Fairfield Inn by Marriott. This means it has a deluxe continental breakfast, a swimming pool, and comfortable accommodations, but no on-site dining or expansive convention facilities.
The name was changed toBaymont Inn. In early 1999, Marcus sold the Baymont chain to the Blackstone Group in 2003, and there are currently 130 Baymont Inns and Suites open in the United States (as of October 1, 2006) which are now owned by Wyndham after the brand name acquisition from Blackstone in 2006 . Former Baymont Inns retained by Blackstone Group have since transitioned to that company's La Quinta Inn brand . Most locations are in the South and the Midwest, with a handful of locations in California.
