生平简介理查德的父亲是尼日利亚人，母亲是挪威人，他是家中的独子。曾就读于英格兰萨福克郡伊普斯威奇市的圣约瑟夫学院，1995年至1998年在剑桥圣凯瑟琳学院学习法律，在校期间因剧本作品获得马丁斯蒂尔奖，在1997至1998年间担任著名的“脚灯”戏剧社的主席。

在戏剧社期间，他出演并撰写了多部戏剧，和剧社的副主席John Oliver约翰·奥利弗共同撰写了两部童话剧：《睡美人》和《格林童话故事》，并在1997和1998年分别出演了戏剧Emotional Baggage（情感包袱）和Between a Rock and a Hard Place（进退两难）。

2007年9月8日，理查德和女演员Lydia Fox 丽迪亚·福克斯结婚。
