出生于加拿大，在美国密歇根成长。她最早的培训始于溜冰场，3岁开始就学习花样滑冰。在转学体操两年之后，她把注意力转移到舞蹈，她现在的事业之一。当时她对爵士舞和芭蕾很感兴趣，作为舞蹈团的成员，Smith有机会参与国家级别的比赛。除了跳舞，Smith也是曾获奖的歌手，模特和一名有抱负的演员，曾参与的广告包括可口可乐，起亚汽车，麦当劳等，并在电视节目中出演小角色，如Happy Family, The Young and the Restless等。2007年，Smith参加了the Pussycat dolls的选拔赛。
