是位于英格兰约克市的一所校园大学. 在大部分的研究中为英国排名前十名的顶尖大学, 在2001年每日电讯报大学排行榜中排名第二, 其教学品质在官方评鉴中名列第一。 该校同时被星期泰晤士报列为2003年年度大学。 约克大学为英国白玫瑰大学联盟的成员之一。
该校有30个科系, 教授约9,000名学生。 主要校区位在约克市的郊区，紧临Heslington，但约克市中心也有几个历史性大楼由大学所使用。目前每个入学名额平均有9人申请。
历史Heslington Hall约克大学是英国新兴玻璃平板大学之一, 1963年成立之初仅招收200名学生。 当时大学由3座大楼组成, 主要是：英王庄园(King's Manor, 原为托马斯‧温特沃思的住宅，曾为北方委员会总部)，以及Heslington Hall(原Thomas Eynns的住宅，北方委员会秘书和印信保管人)。 一年后，开始拓展Heslington校区，形成今天大学的主要部分。
学院约克大学名义上建立于八所学院，提供学生住宿及一些学术单位。不过，该校的学院更像住宅的大厅一样, 实际上并不像牛剑传统一般对学院向心力特别强烈。依设立日期约克大学现有学院如下︰
•Derwent, 取名自约克郡的德温河
•Langwith, 取名自约克当地一座已废弃名为Langwith的村落
•Alcuin, 纪念查理曼大帝宫廷中著名的约克学者Alcuin
•Vanbrugh, 纪念著名的建筑师John Vanbrugh
•Goodricke, 纪念定居于约克的荷兰天文学家John Goodricke
•Wentworth, 是仅有研究生的学院, 取名自英国内战时期的政治家Thomas Wentworth
•James, 纪念该大学第一任副校长Lord James of Rusholme
•Halifax, 2001/2002学年成立的学院, 取名自第一任哈利法克斯伯爵
除了哈利法克斯学院坐落在靠近Heslington村的边缘上外，其他学院都位于主要校区。Eden's Court住宿区虽隶属德温特学院的一部分，但是住宿学生则使用哈利法克斯的设备。还有几所校外的宿舍: Holgate's Hall, Catherine House及The Stables算是较为知名的。
分区约克大学的校区更普遍地安排成一个个的分区。 除了上述的八个学院构成八个分区外, 其它分区还有:

•中央大会堂(Central Hall)是举行考试及各类成果展出的会堂
•化学区。
•资讯科学区。
•环境研究区。
•Fairfax House, 学生宿舍。
•Heslington Hall。
•King's Manor, 位于约克市中心区的大学独立建筑, 容纳考古系及一部份历史系。
•图书馆区, 由J。B。 Morrell, Raymond Burton和Borthwick等图书馆组成。
•音乐区。
•物理学及电子学区。
•心理学区。
•体育馆区。
大学系所通常被建置在这些区域之一。例如，数学系被设置在Goodricke学院，政治系在德温特(Derwent)学院, 以及在阿尔昆(Alquin)学院的经济学系。不过，像资讯科学系, 生物系和物理系并未隶属于特别的学院, 而是有他们自己的分区。这些大的系所通常会将他们的讲堂(阶梯教室)借给较小的系所使用。
