为适应河南省经济与社会的发展需要,强化学科优势,以教学促进科研,以科研带动教学,促进学科的全面发展,1995年4月成立了郑州大学物理工程学院,其前身为始建于1956年的原郑州大学物理系。学院现由物理系、电子科学与技术系、测控技术系及材料物理教育部重点实验室(郑州大学)、河南省材料物理重点实验室、河南省离子束生物工程重点实验室、河南省基础及应用科学研究所、郑州大学生物物理与医学工程研究所、电子科学技术与仪器实验中心、郑州大学物理实验中心等单位组成的一个理工结合、系所结合的先进学科群体。
学院能够进行学士-硕士-博士-博士后多层次人才培养,拥有物理学博士后流动站,物理学一级博士授权点,材料物理与化学二级博士授权点;物理学、核科学与技术、仪器科学与技术和光学工程四个一级硕士授权点;生物物理、材料物理与化学、物理电子学三个二级硕士授权点;物理学、应用物理学、电子信息科学与技术、电子科学与技术、测控技术与仪器五个本科专业,其中物理学专业2005年被评为河南省名牌专业。学院目前在读博士、硕士研究生近400人,本科生1400人。物理工程学院已成为河南省物理及相关学科多层次专业技术人才的培养基地和科技创新基地。九个硕士授权点:理论物理、凝聚态物理、粒子物理与原子核物理、生物物理学 、光学、物理电子学、测试计量技术及仪器、材料物理与化学、核技术及应用;一个博士授权点:凝聚态物理;学院还设有物理学博士后流动站一个。近年来,学院积极扩大对外交流,与中科院高能物理研究所、安徽光机所等单位签定协议,联合培养博士生;与美、英、法、澳大利亚、日本等十几个国家多所大学建立了交流与协作关系,先后派遣50余人出国访问和进修。
物理工程学院现有教职工174人,其中中科院院士1人,博士生导师16人,正、副教授58人,高级工程师、高级实验师6人,教职工中有博士学位的63人。在“211工程”九五建设期间,学院的发展遇到了前所未有的机遇,先后投入“211”项目建设资金1794万元,使学院在办学规模、办学水平、教学科研条件、学科建设、人才队伍建设以及承担国家级和省部级重大、重要科研项目的能力等方面获得长足进步。目前,学院承担着国家重点学科“凝聚态物理”和河南省重点学科(第一层次)“凝聚态物理”、“粒子物理与原子核物理”的建设任务,同时还承担了“211工程”十五重点建设学科“结构材料与生物材料物理”的建设任务,主要涉及的研究领域包括:理论物理、粒子物理与原子核物理、加速器物理、核技术应用、物理电子学、光学工程、测试计量技术、材料物理、离子束生物物理、凝聚态物理等。学院拥有静电加速器,冷场发射扫描显微镜、高温性能实验机、热等静压机、CVD薄膜沉积系统等大型仪器设备。目前承担多项国家 “973”、国家科技攻关、国家自然科学基金项目及河南省重大、重点科技攻关项目,总经费2400余万元。物理工程学院已成为河南省物理及相关学科多层次专业技术人才的培养基地和科技创新基地。
学院重视开展对外合作交流活动,同中国科学院物理研究所、高能物理研究所、安徽光学精密机械研究所、北京大学、美国衣阿华州立大学、美国橡树岭国家实验室、英国玛丽女王学院-伦敦大学等一批国内外著名高校和科研机构建立了长期稳固的合作关系,在学生培养、合作研究方面进行了富有成效的合作;同时学院面向河南经济建设,与登电集团、中铝公司等多家企业合作,进行产品开发,为地方经济的发展服务。
In April 1995, School of Physical Science and Engineering, Zhengzhou University, grew out of Department of Physics which was founded in 1956, with the view to achieving the adjustment to the accelerated economical and social development in Henan province, to securing an all-around development of the field of learning with the reciprocal promotion between teaching and research activities so as to strengthen the potential of the field of learning. The school, characterized by the combination of science and engineering, constitutes a number of departments and laboratories including Department of physics, Department of electronic science and technology, Department of Measurement and Control Technology, Key Laboratory of Material Physics Ministry of Education, Material Physics Laboratory of Henan Province and Ion Beam Bioengineering Laboratory of Henan Province.
In the School of Physical Science and Engineering, there are five undergraduate programs (Physics, Applied Physics, Electronic Science and Technology, Measurement and Control Technology & Instruments, Electronic Information Science and Technology), nine graduate programs (Theoretical Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics, Biophysics, Optics, Physical Electronics, Materials Physics and Chemistry, Nuclear Technology and Application, and Measuring Technology and Instrument), one doctorial program (Condensed Matter Physics), as well as one Post-doctorial research station. In the past few years, the School has made great efforts to promote exchange with institutions both at home and abroad by signing contracts with Institute of High Energy Physics ,Chinese Academy of Sciences, Anhui Institute of Optics and Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China to train doctorial students and by sending as many as 50 faculty members to the universities in such nations as USA, UK, France, Australia and Japan.
In the School of Physical Science and Engineering, the number of faculty and staff reaches to 174, including one academician, 58 professors and associate professors, 6 senior research and experiment fellows, and 36 doctorate holders. The 211 Project construction in the Ninth Five-Year Plan has offered golden opportunities for the School to accelerate growth. With the investment of 17.97 million yuan, a sum from the 211 Project fund, the school has made much progress in increasing enrollment, improving teaching and research environment, strengthening the field of learning and faculty, and carrying out the major research programs funded by both the provincial and the state government. At present, the School has honored itself with the construction of a national key field of learning (Condensed Matter Physics) and two provincial key fields of learning (Condensed Matter Physics ,Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics), as well as a 211 Project (in the national tenth five-year plan) key field of learning (Structural Material Physics & Biomaterial Physics). School of Physical Science and engineering has become an important provincial base for scientific innovation and cultivation of technical personnel in the field of physics and related areas.
