创作背景1984年，Sade推出处女作《Diamond Life（钻石生活）》，分别获BPI奖“最佳英国团辑”与葛莱美奖“最佳新进艺人”的肯定，而这张专辑在英国排行榜的停留时间更达98 周之久。其中这首“Smooth Operator”跻进全美流行榜Top 5。随即Sade在1985年获得第27届葛莱美“最佳新进艺人”奖座，并于1986年成为美国“时代”杂志的封面人物。
Smooth Operator，如果你是个经常坐在酒吧里闲聊听歌的FB份子，肯定会对这首歌很熟悉。Sade曾于80年代初期在圣马丁艺术学校（St. Martin's School Of Art）的求学期间组成生平的第一个乐团Arriva并尝试填词谱曲，Smooth Operator就是这个时期的作品。
