尼克(约翰-库萨克)是一个很能掌控空中交通的怪物。他在纽约的空中雷达管制中心上班(简称TRACON)。TRACON每天要负责监控7000多架飞机的起降，是纽约地区非常重要的雷达管制中心。尼克掌管最忙的一条空中线路，他的表现非常之好，简直就是天生好手……

尼克是纽约空中交通指挥中心的控制指挥员，那里每天必须指挥超过七千架飞机的起降，而尼克是当中的翘楚，人人知晓的最佳控制员。

尼克在纽约空中雷达管制中心上班，每天要负责监控7000多架飞机的起降。尼克掌管最忙的一条空中线路，他的表现非常之好，简直就是天生好手！
新来的同事罗素的出现，使得尼克的生活开始起了重大的变化，尼克几乎样样都被罗素比了下去。再加上罗素异常的冷静与大胆，他敢利用飞机降落前的气流在空中飞舞，更是受到众人的推崇。
这两个人之间怪异又微妙的竞争心理，渐渐发展成他俩在工作、婚姻以及他们生活中的混乱局面。先是罗素在工作中优异的表现，使得尼克暗暗不爽，因为尼克以前的风采全被夺走，再来是尼克跟罗素性感惹火的老婆“搞”上了，罗素的老婆竟诚实的向罗素全盘托，使得罗对尼克冷冷的说：“我不会介意，也不会打你。”从此，尼克的生活陷入一片苦海中。这二个男人之间的关系将会如何发展呢？
