剧情简介马特·沙利文（乔许·哈奈特）的最后一次恋爱也以失败告终，他和女友一刀两断了。打那以后，他的身心就受到了极大的打击，并发誓再也不想这些事了。基督教的“四旬斋”节到了，在复活节前的40天里，是一年中每个人都在修身养性的时期。他决定借即将来临的基督教四旬斋节修身养性，马特这个至今尚未偷尝禁果的处男决定发一个誓言：发誓40天内不近女色，禁欲——连续40天，没有抚摸、没有亲吻、没有挑逗……反正关乎性的事情，什么也不能做，这个誓言尚未有男人能做得到。马特还从来没做成过什么象样的事情，如果能完成这项挑战，对他来说，也算是一桩成就。
一开始，一切仿佛都进行得很顺利，但是就在他发誓绝情禁欲的日子里，他梦中的完美女孩却走进了他的生活，至此事情变得有些复杂了，考验马上就来，而且是非常严酷的考验。现在，每个人都相信马特的“禁欲”计划开始岌岌可危了。马特却准备努力地坚持到底，并希望这个女孩也能与他一起坚持。
