燃油，F1赛车使用的是超级无铅汽油，其组成成分必须符合FIA的规则，必须满足严格的EU排放标准。为了确保各队燃油的合法性，FIA会在每站比赛中进行随机抽样检查。在赛季之前，制造商必须向FIA提供样品，以作为样板备案。

Fuel最早在宾夕法尼亚哈里斯堡，也就是乐队的家乡的酒吧中演出。1996年Fuel录制了Porcelain，一张自己出资制作的EP。专辑包括Shimmer的最初版本，这首歌在当地的摇滚电台点播率很高。这些引起了Epic唱片公司的注意，并一年后与Fuel签约。
1998年Fuel发行了首张专辑Sunburn，其中包括许多在Porcelain中出现的作品为给专辑作宣传，Fuel开始了为期两年半450余场的巡演。
巡演后，乐队休息了22天便开始筹划第二张专辑Something like human，这期间，Bell创作了乐队的第一首单曲Hemorrhage（In my hands）。“在开始创作歌曲时我呆在家里确保首歌都为新专辑做好了准备。”Bell说“我在圣诞节前完成了创作并在录制前给Jeff演奏了一遍。”“你不想为我演奏这首歌，因为你还不确定这首歌你是否喜欢。”Abercrombie说，“当Carl最后弹奏Hemorrhage（In my hands）时，他使我陶醉了，我相信他将成为我们举足轻重的歌。”
正如Abercrombie的预测， Hemorrhage（In my hands）帮助Fuel重复了上张专辑的双白金销量。
随着Fuel第三张专辑Natural Selection的出炉，乐队在过去的基础上，探索新的音乐领域并准备再次获得成功。
Fuel前两张专辑Sunburn（1998）和Something like human（2000）取得多白金销量的原因是什么呢？秘密装置？丑闻？宣传？以上都不是，这只宾夕法尼亚四人乐队的成功依靠的是对成功的坚定信念，狂热的工作热情，许多优秀的歌曲。
“我们的出名来自制作出色的音乐。”Fuel的吉他手兼主要歌曲作者Carl Bell说，“我对乐队在没有疯狂想法的帮助下所做的事感到十分自豪，人们了解这只乐队是通过音乐的力量，而不是因为与母亲们打官司或在CNN上的暴光率。

歌曲《Fuel》"Fuel" 是出自METALLICA专集《Reload》（1997），当年在Mainstream Rock Tracks排行榜上最高排到第6位。James Hetfield最喜欢的单曲之一。在MTV Icon in 2003上，Avril Lavigne选择翻唱这首向METALLICA致敬。1999年9月的时候Playstation推出一款赛车游戏，Metallica的"Fuel"成为游戏配乐。
