剧情介绍版本一
17岁的埃迪被色情片导演杰克从餐馆服务生中挑选出来，大加栽培，使其成为此类影片的大明星德克。由于他拍的影片都很卖座，德克可以说是名利双收。但进入80年代后，情况变得混乱起来：小比尔开枪打死他不忠的妻子以及情人后自杀；赞助商因为儿童色情片的事被捕；染上毒瘾的德克变得越来越不好合作。杰克另换新人，开始寻找新的出路。德克想改行，但身陷毒品交易难以自拔。这时，录像制品成为新兴行业，杰克抓住时机想东山再起，他们又开始照新的方式拍摄春宫片。

埃迪是一个17岁小男生，在一家迪斯科打杂。一个偶然的机会他被某毛片导演看中，因为他天生具有超大规模的秘密武器，于是取了一个响亮的艺名开始新的明星生涯，天天沉浸在毒品、跑车的氛围里。后来他跟导演发生争执，导演另捧新人，而他穷困潦倒，需要打劫为生。但他仍牢牢记住这句名言：“每个人都有一样特殊才能。”

In 1977, Sex was safe. Pleasure was a business. And Business was booming.
幕后制作整部影片有一种奇怪的色调，色彩饱和又略微偏暗，且有迷幻的感觉，极像吸毒后看到的世界。影片的镜头调度非同寻常，许多镜头像是毒瘾发作的人在疯狂地寻找毒品。第一场戏在迪斯科，一个长镜头推拉摇移转圈，居然使不同座位的所有主角全部亮相，颇有点向斯科西斯《好家伙》致敬的意味。
精彩花絮·莱昂纳多·迪卡普里奥一开始是Dirk Diggler这个角色的人选，他也很喜欢剧本台词，但由于他那时已经跟《泰坦尼克》剧组签约了，于是他向剧组推荐了自己的好朋友马克·沃尔伯格。
·格温妮斯·帕尔特洛曾受邀出演轮滑女孩的角色，但被她拒绝了。
·Dirk Diggler在电影中第一次演的角色叫John，这源自现实中的色情电影明星John Holmes。片中Dirk说他刚从海军复原，而John的确曾在海军服役。而Dirk Diggler这一角色多少也借鉴了John Holmes本人。
·结尾处Rodriguez兄弟发现他们的俱乐部牌匾被拼成了"Rodriquez"。这并不是计划好的，而确实是一个失误，导演Paul Thomas Anderson在剧本上把它拼错了，但Anderson决定保留它以增添喜剧效果。
·Buck Swope这一角色的名字来自Robert Downey Sr.的电影《Putney Swope》 (1969), 这也是本片导演Paul Thomas Anderson最喜欢的电影之一。
