剧情介绍女人真是麻烦，有孩子的单身女人更是烦上加烦……不过尼克（艾斯·库伯饰）可不在乎这些，对于他来说，女人只是附属品，追到手就算大功告成，根本无需费心去经营什么感情，如今，尼克的最新目标是单身妈妈苏珊娜（尼尔·朗饰）。可能因为经历过一次失败的婚姻，苏珊娜对男人小心翼翼、步步为营，惟恐行差踏错——尼克使尽了浑身解数，也无法除她心底的那道防线。新年将至，尼克却发现苏珊娜的脸上丝毫没有过节的喜悦，反而日渐愁苦，原来苏珊娜的一对儿女都在纽约，可是为了工作，新年期间她必须留在温哥华加班，分居两地的生活让她备受相思之苦。脑筋灵活的尼克马上察觉这是自己大献殷勤的好机会，便自告奋勇开车将她的两个孩子——11岁的琳赛（艾丽莎·艾伦饰）和7岁的凯文（菲利普·丹尼尔·波顿饰）接到温哥华来过新年。然而，令尼克想像不到的是，苏珊娜的两个孩子不但古灵精怪，还有少许偏执，痛恨所有和妈妈约会的男人，他们决定在去温哥华的路上想尽一切办法让尼克别再打妈妈的主意。
圆滑的经营者Nick正准备追求一位年轻而有魅力的离异女性Suzanne。然而问题在于Suzanne由于工作无法抽身，独自待在温哥华，她非常想念家中的两个孩子以至于整日眉头不展。为了能与Suzanne有更进一步的发展，Nick殷勤地提出愿意为她达成愿望——前往远在美国奥勒冈的波特兰将7岁的Kevin以及11岁的Lindsey接来与他们的母亲团聚。
但让Nick始料不及的是，Suzanne的两个孩子认为没有一个男人配得上自己的母亲，于是一路上想尽各种办法整治Nick。
