剧情介绍著名影星朱丽叶·比诺什和拉尔夫·法因斯《英伦情人》之后再度合作演绎经典旷世爱情故事。
19世纪，在英国约克郡一个阴沉的荒原边上，吉普赛男孩希斯克利夫，被带到呼啸山庄。他得到主人之女凯西的钟爱，凯西又无法拒绝自己想过优裕生活的愿望，希斯克利夫得知后，悄然离去，凯西嫁给有钱的林顿。
几年后希斯克利夫买下了呼啸山庄。与伊莉贝拉结婚以后，希斯克利夫的冷淡无情使伊莎贝拉很快枯萎凋谢，凯西也因悲伤过度而濒临死亡。希斯克利夫在凯西弥留之际来到她身边，把她抱到窗前眺望那方岩石--童年时代他们的“城堡”。凯西死后，希斯克利夫心神错乱，在哀悼凯西……此片是1970年的重拍版本,黛安娜·罗斯的古怪唱腔令人心碎。

·影片冗长的片名——《艾米莉·勃朗特的呼啸山庄》（毕竟，又有多少其他人会写一本名叫《呼啸山庄》的书呢？）起因是塞缪戈温公司威胁说要起诉派拉蒙，认为由于1939年拍摄过同名电影，他们才拥有这个片名的版权。得到美国电影协会的支持后，戈温被判获胜，要是派拉蒙在他们的片名中哪一次没有加上“艾米莉·勃朗特”的前缀，就可以得到两千五百美元的罚金。
