剧情介绍版本1
一部充分展示英国幽默的影片，英国人熟悉的电视明星罗温艾金森出演令人笑掉大牙的比恩先生。本来笨拙的比恩先生是一家英国美术馆展览厅的守卫人员，竟被作为皇家美术馆的代表派往美国参加一次名画的揭幕式，他滥竽充数演出了很多让人捧腹的闹剧。影片借此也讽刺了英美两国的官僚主义。

憨豆先生在伦敦的国家画廊当保安。当一幅名画被洛杉矶一家博物馆买走后，他被当作“专家”押送名画。美国的博物馆馆长把他请到府上，憨豆不仅毁坏了名画，而且还破坏了他人的家庭，但他也歪打正着做了一些好事。
幕后制作本片发挥了阿特金森作为哑剧和闹剧明星的魅力。《憨豆先生》(Mr. Bean)的电视剧出现在1989－1995年，2002年版的电视剧共26集，是卡通片，由阿特金森配音。
精彩花絮·电视版《憨豆先生》中的许多搞笑场面都被用在电影中，比如憨豆先生在飞机上吹起一个装满呕吐物的呕吐袋，再把它挤爆；把火鸡卡在自己的脑袋上的场面等等。
·这是第一部在美国上映前票房就达到一亿美元的影片。
·制片人起初想找不知名的演员来演General Newton一角，但是伯特·雷诺兹(Burt Reynolds)由于是憨豆系列剧的粉丝，主动来要求出演这个角色，于是他便成了Newton。
