其他虽然北河三被命名为「β」星，但在视星等上，它却比「α」星（北河二）还要光亮。 北河二及北河三虽被形容为星座的「双子」，但它们的特性大不相同，前者在体积及温度上，均要比后者高得多。 而且，北河二和北河三还在朝着两个相反的方向运动[1]。
